Thoughts on the OTPF

Many professions have certain documents or books that serve as a guide for those that are practicing within that particular field. These resources can be extremely helpful when it comes to guiding what a professional does each day on the job, proving information on which they can turn to when they have questions, and functioning as a summary of what the overall profession stands for and is working to achieve. As occupational therapy professionals, we have the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, the OTPF for short. This document is extremely helpful when it comes to providing all of the necessary information needed by OT practitioners to provide proper OT services. In my opinion, this document should be introduced first thing in OT school and should be drawn upon in most all OT classes. It is very helpful for serving as a go to guide for describing what it is the occupational therapists do and how they do it. As a health profession, it is very smart to have a document such as the OTPF that serves as a universal guide for those within our profession.
